Transition Time

One of the things I’ve considered over the years is, “when is time to move on from your current job?”  I think the easy answer is, “about six months before you asked that question.”  From my personal experience and the experiences of others, by the time you start wondering if it’s time to move on, you are already behind the curve.

Unfortunately, caring about or requiring job security is the bane of the entrepreneur.  You just can’t startup without sacrificing a great deal of security.  It plagues your ability to just let go and do your own (new) thing.  I don’t have any good advice for this problem as it’s exactly what I’m facing today.

In my particular situation, I don’t have a choice.  I have a set amount of time to either get my project off the ground or get another job.  If you’re reading this, you’re probably like me and wouldn’t like another job.  The clock is ticking, but with each passing day I feel like I’m taking one step closer and gaining some momentum.

How do you feel about job security vs. moving on to do something you are really passionate about?
